Know what you really burn.

Hourgrain works out your daily expenditure from what you eat and how your weight trends, and makes logging fast enough that you keep doing it.

How the estimate works

Trust the trend, not the day.

Most trackers start your budget from a formula and never correct it. Hourgrain works energy balance backwards from what you log and how your weight trends, so the number it gives you is your own.

Trend weight

Down 0.4 kg a week

Daily weight is mostly water and food in transit. Hourgrain smooths it into a trend and reads that instead, so a salty dinner never moves your budget.

On day one it's a formula's guess. As your logs build up, your data takes over, and in two to three weeks the band is tight enough to set targets by.

Steady beats perfect

Log 200 kcal short every day and the estimate absorbs it. Your target still comes out right, so a rough log always beats a skipped one.

It says how sure it is

Every estimate carries its band, and each weekly change comes with a plain line on what moved it.

Exercise isn't added back

The estimate already includes everything you do. There's no "you burned 400, eat 400 more" to double count.

Logging

Fast enough that you keep doing it.

Missed days break the habit and the estimate built on it. So a food you've had before is two taps, a packet is one scan, and a batch portion is just a weight.

Two taps for a repeat

Open the logger and what you usually eat at this hour is already there.

One scan for a packet

No shutter to press. Point at the barcode, and if no one has the product yet, photograph the label once and it's saved for your household.

A photo, and a note for what it hides

A plate of rice and curry hides its oil and coconut milk, so you can say so. The numbers come from real food records, and nothing is logged until you tap.

A weight for a batch

Cook once and weigh the pot. Every serving after that is grams against the batch, and the whole household logs from it.

Agents

Log from the assistant you already talk to.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Codex, then say what you ate, ask what's left, or have the week reviewed. The phone, the web and your agent all write to the same diary.

An agent's entry is marked with where it came from, and undoes in one tap.
You choose what each connection can read and write, and revoke it any time.
Every write lands in an activity log you can check.
Promises

Paid for by the people who use it.

No one else pays for Hourgrain, so no one else gets your food log or your weight. That decides what it will and won't do.

No ads, ever

Not on the free tier, not on Premium. Nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing.

No tracking kits

There are no ad or analytics SDKs in the app. Usage is counted on our own server, never per person.

Kind by default

No streak shaming, no red alarms, no cheering for big deficits. It never suggests eating below a safe floor.

A household, not a feed

Share recipes, batches and pots with up to five people at home. No leaderboards, profiles or badges.

Your data leaves with you

Export everything as CSV or JSON, or delete your account and all of it from inside the app.

Not a medical device

Hourgrain records and estimates. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything, and it's made for adults.

Pricing

Questions

How long until my estimate is ready?

From day one you have a formula's estimate, clearly labelled. As you log and weigh in, your own data takes over, usually within two to three weeks, and the band shows how far along it is.

Do I have to weigh myself every day?

No. More weigh-ins make the trend steadier, but missed days are fine, and no single weigh-in moves your budget. Hourgrain never leads with today's number.

What if I don't log everything?

A steady gap cancels out, because the estimate is built from the same logs. Mark a day as partial when you know it is, and the engine leaves it out rather than guessing.

Can I bring my history from another app?

A MacroFactor export imports your food totals and weigh-ins, so your estimate can start settled. Cronometer and MyFitnessPal imports follow at launch, and you can export everything from Hourgrain any time.

The truth arrives grain by grain.

Start logging, weigh in when you can, and in about three weeks you'll know what you really burn.
